These are my links for November 22nd through December 1st:

  • Does Social Networking Threaten Journalistic Integrity – Shannon’s post delves into the murky waters of social media ethics in terms of journalism. The post talks about the L.A. Times social media policy for its reporters and the implications of this policy. It’s interesting because this topic will definitely be one that continues to evolve as social media evolves.
  • Review: Sysomos Social Media Monitoring Tool – If you work in social media monitoring, I highly recommend checking out Sysomos. It’s a great tool that’s easy to use. Dave provides a solid review and discussed all of the different features.
  • When to Confront Someone: The Rule of Three – I know I posted this on Twitter, but I think it deserves another shout-out. This is such a great post for any leader or manager, or even those who are not in leadership positions, to read. We all face challenges with other people and working styles are not always the same, so confronting a colleague may be inevitable. This is a great guide on how to do it the right way.
  • Social Media: Anti-Social, Or An Opportunity For Influence? – Should critics have a voice online? Are critics overpowering your brand’s supporters? Dave talks about the pros and cons of the online voice, especially in terms of the critics. I think it’s important to remember that the critics will be talking about you anyway, so being online and listening is just as important as engaging.
  • Shocking Tiger Woods video (exclusive) – A brilliant headline and an even better blog post on writing headlines. When does an attention-grabbing headline become spam? Seth explores the subject and it’s a really interesting discussion.
  • Blogger Relations – from a Blogger’s Perspective – A cool video from a daddy blogger (yes, they exist!) with a message PR pros should hear. I think it’s important to recognize the fact that these two groups are different and a one-size-fits-all approach is not necessarily the most effective.
  • Are Advertisements True? New Lawsuits Are Asking for Proof – NYTimes.com – This is a good question and I’m glad to see these question being asked. Though the questions being raised by the article are valid, I wonder why companies think telling a huge audience their product is “the best” is effective. Why can’t consumers decide for themselves? That’s where relationship building comes in.
